Jerry Balzer brought me a floppy disk with .dox files on it that he needs converted. He said I had done a conversion for him before with Word 2007, but I certainly don't recall it. I tried Open Office and Word 2007, but neither of them gave me anything but garbage. I found some information at the link below about using Word Perfect, but I don't have WP.

I went to several of the listed websites and found some trial downloads which I didn't do.

I found the original DOS program at: http://www.vetusware.com/category/Office/?cat=4&page=4 but don't think I can run it in Win XP.

Have now found the following info at http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r21706488-Multimate-word-processor-to-a-modern-formatthat requires Word 2003: Do you have Word 2003? There's an indication that the RTF-DCA converter that came with with Office 97 will open Multimate files.

The converter along with a REG file to install it in Word 2003 is here. It won't work under Office 2007.

I have Word 2002 on a computer and tried it, but it wouldn't convert. I then noticed on the computer I was trying your suggestion that there's a "Recover text from any file" selection as the file type. That got, what I think, is all the text from the file.

So thank you VERY MUCH!!!

Any other suggestions?

If Jerry concurs, you can send the file to me, and I will try it on some of the older stuff that I have around.

I still have Office 2003 loaded and will try the conversion, too, if Mick's efforts fail, and assuming Jerry's permission.
